My dear beloved, Mr. Shannon Stamey, will be part of the "In Dreams" show at Three Hounds Gallery in good ol' Wilmywood. Details are below. I will be attending the Artist's Reception. You should too. I am super duper proud of him. I feel as though I am some Rooster cockadoodley-dooing his accomplishments. Expect some very romantic, feminine works that will inspire and take your breath away. Perfect for Valentine's Day. In addition, the other artists on the bill are quite talented. Mary Shannon Johnstone is a brilliant photographer. Her pieces are strikingly alienated and cold, yet still hold some sense of family and warmth. Her work was even included in a group exhibition at the MoMA. (Shannon- "Oh. Cool. No Pressure.") So yeah, should be a good show.

In other news, as I feel any success for him is also a success for myself, three out of four of the works Shannon had as part of the FMoA's exhibit SOLD! Bravo. I was very surprised at how well the works were received, and not because I don't think he is talented. Really, it was because I was surprised that there is actually a market for high-end art in Fayetteville. And that there are a plethora of really talented artists, right here in town. In my work for the Museum, I've come across an artist that we are showcasing at our satellite gallery, Gallery 208. Her name is Leslie Pearson. Her work is stunning. As a self professed "word nerd", I find the inclusion of text in her pieces refreshing. Especially as our society moves away from that text appreciation and more into a love affair of images. In a marketing meeting for the Museum yesterday, myself and staff members were alarmed to discover that some of the public receiving our invitations to events did not even realize that the art included on said invitations were for an exhibit, even though the print on the invitation clearly stated as such. This means the average consumer is really only paying attention to images. 'Tis a good and bad thing. Can't blame the viewer for being lazy. The onslaught and barrage of images we are fed on a daily basis is overwhelming. How are we expected to process words as well?

Such is life.

Work continues to be insanely busy for me. My recent loss of vehicle is not aiding in the matter. I've spoken with a few people recently and am really beginning to realize life does not slow down. It's as if the horse is at full gallop, and we can only hope that we hang on. Will that horse ever stop for water, a breather? It does not appear as such. I always wonder if I fell off if I would ever be able to get back on.

Here's to hangin' on in a NEW YEAR that I can't believe the first month of is coming to its end.
